Telling the Inlaws

Friday night we traveled to my inlaws house for dinner and to tell them we were expected.  Our parents live about two and a half hours away from where we live, so it was mainly just a trip to talk with my inlaws since my parents already knew, but I decided to squeeze some other activities in as well.  My grandma fell and broke her hip a few weeks ago so my mom and I were able to visit her at rehab this weekend too.  She seemed to be doing really well and should be released sometime in the next two weeks.  She'll be moving from her house to a more assisted living facility where they check up on you each day.  I know this is a huge relief for my aunts who have been trying to care for her and get her to move for a while now.

Anyways, telling my inlaws went well.  My MIL was confused by the frame, at first she thought we were just giving it to her because she was going to have 2 grandchildren (my SIL and BIL's wife are both also expected).  Once J explained it they were really happy.  Although I got a glimpse of how "super exciting" things are going to be during this pregnancy.  Now that all 3 of her children are expecting at the same time, I'm bracing myself for a lot of really over-excited family members.  I'm sure there will be updates as time goes on.

There were some other uncomfortable moments, like when she said that we "made her worry for no reason" since during their last visit we knew we were pregnant and didn't tell them.  I thought this was totally inappropriate.  We weren't trying to make them worry, we were the ones dealing with IF and treatment.  It's a really difficult time and while I think people who haven't gone through it know it's difficult, I don't think they really understand what it's like.  Luckily I can vent all this out here and know that you'll understand :)

  2. Wow, well thank goodness you are pregnant, for many reasons, but partly because I cannot imagine going through IF with a MIL like that and two expecting women in the family. That would have been HARD!!!
