Good News

Good news!  Yesterday, the new patient specialist from the RE's office called.  She said the doctor had opened up some additional appointments next Wednesday.  She said that whenever she has openings she always calls new patients first because she knows they've been waiting a long time already and she wants them to be seen as quick as possible.  I thought that was really sweet.  I hope it's a sign that they will be wonderful to work with :)  Now my appointment is just a few days away!  Any advice about things to remember to ask at the first appointment?

  1. Yayy! That's exciting! They are really good about asking you certain questions and finding out your history. They will have a set of questions and possibly testing to perform. Are you looking into IUI? Good luck!

  3. That's awesome! I found the first appointment to be pretty overwhelming, and since I didn't know exactly what was wrong, or what the plan would be, I didn't have any questions prepared. But I think they expect that, and I'm sure once you've sat down with your RE, he would be happy to answer your questions later on the phone or at a follow-up appointment.

    Good luck!

  4. Wow! How nice of them! My advice- it's ok to cry if you need to. I was afraid of looking silly in front of the RE, but he actually handed me a tissue box when he sensed I was about to cry! Let it out. There will be tissues :)

  5. I'm catching up on my Reader and owe you an email too, sorry life got in the way down here!

Anyway, I agree with Sarah don't be afraid to be emotional. Also, be ready to talk about your history, a lot. And ask about costs, don't be afraid to bring up costs. Ask if they work with Freedom Pharmacy or something similar. Are you sure you don't have PCOS or some other medical issue, our insurance doesn't cover infertility but I have PCOS so our RE codes everything he can to PCOS and I don't have to pay out of pocket for a lot of things. I've never paid more than my $40 copay for my ultrasounds, so something to think about. Will the RE be willing to work with you since you don't have insurance coverage. It'll be a great appointment and you'll be well on your way to having a baby in your arms!!! :)
