Finding the Right Doctor

Tomorrow I have an appointment to meet with a pediatrician.  Yet again, another thing I have no idea about.  Basically I blindly searched the internet for a practice that was convenient to our house (who wants to drive far with a sick baby), is affiliated with the hospitals in the area I like (just in case), and accepts our insurance (who wants to pay out of network costs).  Now the appointment is tomorrow and I have no idea what types of things I'm supposed to ask about.  Should I come with a list of questions?  Or will the doctor just give me some basic information about their practice?  I'm basically at a loss here...any thoughts?

  1. We found a wonderful pediatrician through asking a few of the doctors in our practice. Our hospital also had a "Meet the Doctors" night where they brought in local pediatricians for a question/answer session. Sorry, I can't help with creating a list of questions. Best of luck!

  2. I have questions for ours once we go, but mostly because I have no idea what to expect. We found our ped by looking for one with experience in international adoption... the doctor turns out to be one of the most highly recommended overall. When we first spoke with the practice, I had lots of questions stemming from our adoption, which I think are less relevant here. In terms of our baby, I'm wondering when appointments begin and how often they are, what our ped's philosophy on immunizations is, under what conditions we would need to be referred to a specialist and if those referrals are readily available (and whether there are strong relationships between the ped and specialists to facilitate best treatment).
