Whew!

Well, after a rough few days with more contractions than I care to count, things now seem to be heading in the right direction!  Last night my contractions seemed to be coming more frequently and closer together and a few were actually painful.  Naturally, I started freaking out.  Luckily it was still pretty early (around 10:00) when I called my doctor.  The doctor on call was really great.  He's actually the only doctor in the practice we haven't met yet.  We have an appointment with him on Monday.  He said I should take 25 mg of benadryl and drink a big glass of water and that if things didn't slow down with 45 mins. to an hour to give him a call back and he'd have me come in to get checked out.  Thankfully, things seemed to slow down quite a bit and I actually fell asleep within an hour. 

This morning things seemed to be okay, but I was still having some contractions.  I decided to call the doctor as soon as they opened and see if I could get checked out.  They were able to fit me in for a check this morning.  I'm so glad I went.  My cervix was completely closed and firm!  They also ran the test to see if I was likely to go into labor in the next week.  I didn't get the results today, but they should be ready first thing in the morning.  Honestly, I felt so much better after having everything checked out.  Although, I found it a little disturbing how much I seemed to be bleeding after the exam.  She said it's totally normal because of all the increased blood around the cervix and not to worry at all.  It's almost completely stopped now, thank goodness....and so have the contractions :)
