Vacation and Maternity Shopping

This past week J and I enjoyed a week away from home.  We had a nice time, it's always good to get away from work and other responsibilities for a while.  It wasn't until we arrived at our destination that we learned that there was not free internet where we were staying.  So I apologize for my unexpected absence!  I was thinking of many of you often, and was so happy to return home and find out that many of you had a successful cycle :)

While we were gone I decided to brace my first maternity store simply because I'm afraid that one morning I will wake up and won't be able to fit into any of my pants.  I'm starting to get a little rounder in the middle, but for the most part all of my clothes are still workable.  There was an outlet mall in the area we were staying so I decided to check out the Mot.her.hood Mat.ern.ity store there.  Needless to say, it was an epic fail.  I wasn't able to find anything that worked for my body type, but I also felt very uncomfortable just being in the store.  I know I'll need to get over this, but for now I'm working on ways to accumulate maternity options without actually going to maternity stores.

I've been checking out the clearance racks at Target where maternity clothes are mixed in with non-maternity clothes.  Target is also great because no one really bothers you when you are shopping or offers to help you.  I've gotten some really great deals on some dresses and tops that hopefully will work for me later this fall and winter.  One of my very close friends had a baby a few months ago and she's going to bring me some of her maternity clothes next weekend.  So I'm hoping after I go through those items I'll be able to better assess what I need.  Today I discovered that Gap Maternity jeans fit my body really well, but they didn't carry long inseams in the store, so I will need to get them online and wow, they are expensive.  I'll probably get some because I know I will want a pair of comfortable jeans that fit will, but I'm hoping to not spend a ton of money on maternity clothes, because you don't use them for that long.  But I do want to be comfortable and feel like myself during these next several months.  If anyone has tips on great places to get affordable maternity clothes, I would love the advice.

  1. H&M has some really cute things in their maternity section that are super affordable... But, you have to go into the store! Good luck!

  2. I didn't realize H&M had maternity stuff. I'm going to check out the stores in my area to see if they have anything. Those types of stores seem more IF friendly to me because not everyone shopping in there is pregnant. Thanks again for the suggestion!

  3. I know many people aren't Old Navy fans, but they do have stuff online for maternity. Their stuff isn't too pricy and while it isn't an investment piece, there regular stuff lasts me a season or two so I would think their maternity stuff would be fine too. Only downside, I think its only online and returns may be only available through the mail too, but I'm not 100% on that. Good luck :)

  4. I like Gap maternity stuff, it is so comforatable. M.otherhood Mat.ernity salespeople are soooooo obnoxious, they follow you all over the store, it drives me crazy!
