The News is Out

Well, we decided to send the email last Thursday night.  J actually suggested that we include "this is not an April's Fools Joke" somewhere in the message, but we of course left that out :)  So far, so good though.  I feel good that the info is out there.

My parents are on vacation right now (staying with my grandparents) so they sent me a text message saying that would call me when they leave on Sunday.  They also said that they support whatever we decide and they are praying for us.  I knew they would be supportive, but they also like to talk about things, so we'll see how that goes.  We're really close so I'm sure it will be fine.

My in-laws have not yet responded.  I doubt they have read the email yet.  I'm not sure how often they check their home email and obviously we were not going to send this type of message to a work email address.  I mean, really, how inappropriate?  Although my father in-law sends all kinds of messages to J through his work email (i.e., an I have cancer announcement) so I guess he's comfortable using his work email for everything.  Jeez!

In cycle news, I am on CD 7 today and will be taking my last dose of Clomid tonight.  I'm on a low dose (I think) and so far haven't noticed much.  This morning I felt a little cramping near my ovaries, but who knows really?  I often have odd pains throughout the month.  My HSG is on Tuesday and I'm crossing my fingers that everything is clear so we can move forward with the IUI as scheduled.  The nurse thought it would probably be next weekend!  Although I usually ovulate much later than that (usually CD 19 or 20), she said that the Clomid would probably make me ovulate earlier.  Anyone have experiences with this?

  1. Before treatments, I never ovulated. So I can't say whether they speed up your ovulation. I always ovulated late even with Clomid - usually between CD 21 and 25. I would imagine though that if you're ovulating already, it could speed up when it happens. Best of luck!!!

  2. Completely unrelated to your post, but I just noticed we got married in the same month and year! Can I ask what day? We are July 23rd!

  3. I am glad to hear you sent the email. For us, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted just knowing that we didn't have to come up with lies anymore!
I'm like Baby Hopes and almost never ovulate on my own (if I do it is super late), but on clomid I did between CD14 and 18 with a trigger. Are you using a trigger shot?
Don't forget to pop some advil before your HSG. I think I took 3 or 4 about an hour before the test, and found it to be pretty much painless.
    GOOD LUCK!!!

  4. Christina - we got married on the 16th!

Waiting and Wishing - Yes, I think we are using a trigger shot (at least that's what the nurse said). I have my second ultrasound on Friday, and she said they should be able to tell when I will ovulate and have the IUI that day. Crossing my fingers it all pans out :)

  5. I ovulate a bit earlier on Clomid...are you using OPKs or trigger shots with a monitoring ultrasound?

It will be quite a relief once people in your families know what's going on. You may have to set some boundaries on how much you want them to quiz you about it and how often they ask, but I found it to be so much easier than suffering in silence. That said, I am a little weird about talking about it with my in-laws, but that's because they're kinda judgmental about it all and are in denial...they see things through rose-colored glasses sometimes. :)
    Good luck with the HSG!

  6. I'm so glad you were able to tell them! I hope they have nothing but good things to say. I'm sure they will be super supportive. I have had people say a few things that were inappropriate, but it's mostly because they are uninformed and unaware of how things work. Good luck!

And I'm on my last dose of Femara! We'll be pretty close, I bet. I'm thinking you'll ovulate sooner. And you'll be all clear and extra fertile from the HSG. Woot! So exciting!

  7. I definitely ovulated earlier on clomid, so you're probably close! (especially with those twinges)

    Good luck tomorrow!
