You've Got a Baby in a Bar!

Can you name the movie?  Well, this weekend it was my life.  This weekend J and I traveled to Washington DC for a surprise party for one of J's friends.  We got to the party location early with another couple we are friends with to make sure everything was ready to go, order the food, etc.  We didn't know the other couples who were attending the party, so when we saw a guy kind of wandering around looking lost and texting, we thought he might be another guest.  He disappeared for a minute and then came back pushing a stroller and followed by a girl carrying a baby.  A baby??  We were in a bar.  Not a restaurant with a bar section, but an actual bar.  I literally grabbed J's arm and kept repeating "they have a baby in a bar.....a baby in a bar."  It was so bizarre.  They did say that they had childcare lined up and then it fell through, so at least it sounded like they didn't plan to bring their baby to a bar, but really?  Really?  They didn't end up saying long, because their baby was crying.  They said he didn't seem to like the bar and they seemed surprised.  Now, I got carded to go into the bar, so this really got me thinking at what age would they tell you that your child could not enter the bar.  Surely your infant wouldn't be drinking in the bar, but neither would your ten year old, right?  Shouldn't the "Must be 21 to Enter" rule apply to everyone?  I was just totally shocked.  Maybe it's because I live in Indiana where you can't even walk through the bar section of a restaurant on your way to the bathroom if you are under 21.

Oh well, I sat at the other end of the table from the couple and enjoyed my beers :)  There was also a pregnant girl there and I did my best to stay out of any conversations about babies.  I'm sure sometimes people think I'm being a total bitch when I don't participate in these types of conversations, but it's really more for self-preservation than anything.  I'm worried if I start to participate in these types of conversations I'll get really upset and say something that I'll regret later.  Oh well, I'll probably never see these people again anyway!

  3. Sweet Home Alabama!!! "You've got a BABY...in a...BAR!" Love it haha I too avoid those convos like the plague. Definitely a self preservation thing. Because most likely I end up in tears. At the table...or later at home...
